Tony ate noodles for breakfast at a roadside stand in this town. He then took a lorry (a makeshift traincar made of stacked wood) and stopped at the Soys, a family on a rice farm living in a traditional stilt house. They cooked him chicken with shredded banana flowers, leben, and coriander. Sour beef stew with lemongrass, turmeric, fermented fish, and kantrop leaves. Sticky rice cooked in bamboo, and a dessert made from palm sugar.
